Hur skulle de svenska hemmen se ut utan Ikea? Jag likt många andra här i Sverige är uppväxt med de fantastiska hyllorna, de sköna sängarna och de goda köttbullarna. Ikea grundades redan 1943 av ingen mindre än Ingvar Kamprad. Han var då endast 17 år gammal och började sin business med att sälja bland annat pennor, tavelramar, klockor och smycken.  Ikea som vi känner det idag är såklart mer känd för att sälja möbler. Möbler började inte säljas av Ikea fören 1947 men då var det inte Ikeas egen design utan det hade sin start något senare nämligen 1955. Först såldes varorna via postorder men 1953 öppnades det upp en liten affär. Den första riktiga Ikea (alltså ett varuhus) öppnades upp något senare nämligen 1958 i Älmhult. Idag är Ikea världens största inredningsbutik och det finns varuhus runt hela världen. Det första varuhuset i Stockholm (kungens kurva) öppnades upp 1965. På kungen kurva började hela ’ta själv’-idén som är det Ikea vi känner till idag. Dock var varuhuset med om en brand 1970 men byggdes upp igen och öppnades på nytt ett år senare då men bla. en resturang i varuhuset. Ikea utanför Sverige då? 1963 kunde vi se den första Ikea som öppnades upp utanför Sverige nämligen i Asker utanför Oslo. 1973 öppnades det första varuhuset utanför Skandinavien, i Schweiz. Första varuhuset i USA öppnades 1985 i Philadelphia. I Kina öppnades deras första varuhus i Shanghai, 1998. 2006 året då Kamprad fyllde åttio år gammal öppnades det första Ikea varuhuset i Japan.

Namnet IKEA

 

Intressant att veta kan kanske vara vart namnet Ikea kommer ifrån och det kommer faktiskt ifrån Kamprad själv.

Elmaryd är en gammal stavning på gården där han växte upp Älmtaryd och den ligger i just Agunnaryd i Småland. Det har minsann gått bra för Ikea genom åren både här i Sverige och internationellt. Idag kan man knappt gå in i ett hem utan att se åtminstone några av Ikeas fantastiska möbler stå placerade i köket, sovrummet eller vardagsrummet. Tavlor från Ikea hänger ofta på folks väggar. Handdukar och dylikt är ofta köpta från Ikea. Med ett bra pris och bra kvalité är det inte alls konstigt att många väljer just Ikea att köpa deras möbler. Så ser det inte ut bara här i Sverige utan faktiskt runt om i hela världen så uppskattar folk Ikea. Det är inte konstigt att det är så för Ikea är ett fantastiskt varuhus. 2015 fanns det hela 368 varuhus runt om i världen, i 44 länder. Utvecklingen av Ikea kommer inte att stanna utan försätter att växa och vara ett mycket populärt varuhus och det är enkelt att förstå varför det är så. 27 januari 2018 dog tyvärr Ingvar Kamprad. Han blev 92 år gammal. Tänk vilket liv, vilken entreprenör. Endast 17 år gammal i starten.
